Kentelki Gábor
about me
Kentelki Gábor is a Transylvanian painter born in 1998 in Marosvásárhely (Târgu Mureș, Romania). From 2009, he studied visual arts at the art school of his hometown, graduating in 2017 from the painting section. During these years, he won the National Fine Arts Olympiad in painting. He then continued his studies at the University of Fine Arts in Bucharest, graduating in 2020 from the painting department.
Since 2014, he has participated in art camps and group exhibitions nationwide and abroad. His first solo exhibition was in his hometown in 2017, after which he exhibited in Csíkszereda, Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, Debrecen, Budapest, and other cities as well.
The abstract genre dominates his paintings, often combined with landscape elements, as his main source of inspiration is nature. His contemporary expressionistic style is driven by the subconscious, relying on instinct and continuous experimentation. He works mainly with oil on canvas.

ART STATEMENT
Why do I paint? Perhaps even I don’t even know – but I paint.
I believe in abstract painting, but deeply rooted in the nature, as I often use landscape elements. Nature is the most important to me; I seek the eternal harmony and beauty found within it, yet it seems increasingly distant—often to be found in a faraway place, in our imagination, or in our dreams. My painting is defined by the subconscious and spontaneity. The act of creating a painting is a journey of constant discovery through the play of ongoing experimentation; if I knew what the outcome would be, I might not even start. Consequently, inspiration often takes a back seat, and simply being in the studio is enough.
