Dancing Trees Above the City I is the starting point, painted during Kentelki's time in Barcelona. Inspired by Fauvism, Kentelki uses bold, saturated reds and greens to emphasize emotional impact over realistic representation. The trees are personified, almost dancing, creating a beautiful game between light and shadow.
As the series progressed, Kentelki revisited the theme in Dancing Trees Above the City II, taking the composition to a larger scale. The shift in scale amplifies the sense of movement and and the reds seem more amber and as if they calmed a little bit in comparison with Dancing Trees Above the City I. The larger format creates a powerful visual rhythm that captures the trees swaying in the wind. The layers of red tones vary from deep, earthy reds to fiery oranges, reflecting both the physical landscape and the emotional warmth that Barcelona inspired in the artist.
