Kentelki Gallery Award 2025

Painting competition and exhibition for high school students at the Kentelki Gallery

Kentelki Gallery Award 2025

On February 5th, at the Kentelki Gábor visual artist's own gallery in Târgu Mureș, 25 students from the X and XI grade visual arts classes of the Târgu Mureș Arts High School entered the painting competition initiated by him, submitting 80 works, 41 of which were exhibited.

At the opening, Szitai Eszter and Rezi Örs Tamás, members of the jury, praised the submitted and exhibited paintings, and Kolumbán Kántor Zita, the art high school's head teacher, evaluated the artworks and the initiative.

– In an era when many claim that self-expression and emotions are secondary, Kentelki Gábor's generous initiative and exemplary artistic career highlight that talent always finds its way – emphasized Szitai Eszter. For the first time, students were awarded at the Kentelki Gallery; this is a new opportunity and opens a door for young artists to have their work recognized.

– A few years ago, the idea was born that if I had the opportunity, I would organize such an event in my hometown for art students. Why? Back then, I was also very happy to have such an opportunity, and I know what it means to have your work recognized even as a student, and its artistic value. For me, this event is an important milestone, and I will make sure to organize it every year. The students deserve it,” said Gábor Kentelki, who, in addition to the three main prizes (800, 600, 400 lei), also awarded three special prizes of 100 lei each to the authors of the best works selected by the jury. Here are the winners: 1st Prize: Imola Krisztina Tóth, 2nd Prize: Petra Kerekes, 3rd Prize: Evelyn Tünde Kis. Special prizes: Gréta Haraszti, Lilla Kürti, Tamás Szabó.
